Welcome to the website for the Alfond Scholarship Foundation.

The Alfond Scholarship Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose goal is to increase Maine’s educational attainment by providing every Maine resident baby with $500 for college.
Harold Alfond believed that every Maine child should have an opportunity for higher education. Before his passing in the fall of 2007, Mr. Alfond and the Harold Alfond Foundation supported the creation of the Alfond Scholarship Foundation to make this vision a reality. We hope that this investment in Maine’s future will have both practical and aspirational benefits for these children – and for our state.
